Competitor monitoring

Two research agents watch the client's competitors. The competitor sweep reports what each one changed; the UX audit takes apart how their sites turn visitors into sign-ups. Both deliver a branded report to Drive, and both keep their findings so Nexus can answer questions about competitors later.

What it does

Two research agents watch the client's competitors. The competitor sweep reports what each one changed; the UX audit takes apart how their sites turn visitors into sign-ups. Both deliver a branded report to Drive, and both keep their findings so Nexus can answer questions about competitors later.

Set it up

  1. Make sure the client's G2M lists the competitors. Both agents read the list from it.
  2. Add any that are missing with the Competitors guide, or name them in the request: "Run a competitor sweep for example.com and example.org."

Use it

The competitor sweep. "Run a competitor sweep." For each competitor it looks for what changed: launches, positioning or pricing shifts, campaigns, funding and hiring. Each change comes with its evidence, why it matters, and a suggested response for the client. It looks back one month by default; ask for up to six. Add a focus when you have one, for example "watch their content velocity".

  • Needs: web_crawl, aeo_probes
  • Delivered as: docx

The competitor UX audit. "Run a competitor UX audit." It covers three things for each competitor: the onboarding sequence (how many steps to a preview, and where the friction is), the copy (headlines and calls to action word for word, and the emotional hooks), and where trust and security messages sit. You get a comparison table, detail per competitor, and recommendations for the client's own funnel.

  • Agent: Competitor UX Audit (competitor-ux-audit)
  • Model tier: Sonnet · cost cap per run: $3.50
  • Needs: web_crawl, aeo_probes
  • Delivered as: docx

The audit reads pages a visitor can reach without signing in. A sign-up that needs an account can't be clicked through, so step counts that need a hands-on walkthrough are marked as such.

Findings on file

  • "What did the last competitor sweep find?" reads the stored findings, for one competitor or all of them.
  • Add something you learned yourself: "Note this about example.com: they cut their prices 20%." Don't log what an agent already found; its findings are kept on their own.

Maintain

The sweep is meant to run monthly: "Schedule the competitor sweep monthly."

Troubleshooting

  • The report covers the wrong companies. The G2M's competitor list is out of date. Update it, or name the competitors in the request.
  • A step count is marked for a walkthrough. The flow is behind a sign-up. ✋ Someone has to walk through it by hand.
