Google Ads reports, audits and optimization
Nexus has two kinds of Google Ads work. The reports: a monthly retainer report and a one-time audit. The optimization team: agents that read the account, explain it and recommend changes, then a gated path that turns approved recommendations into exact, reversible changes. Nothing goes live without a "yes".
What it does
Nexus has two kinds of Google Ads work. The reports: a monthly retainer report and a one-time audit. The optimization team: agents that read the account, explain it and recommend changes, then a gated path that turns approved recommendations into exact, reversible changes. Nothing goes live without a "yes".
Set it up
- ✋ Give Nexus the account: "Their Google Ads customer ID is 123-456-7890."
- Build the paid ads strategy first, so reports grade against the client's targets (see the paid ads strategy guide).
Use it
Monthly report. "Run the Google Ads monthly report." What's working, what to scale and what to test next, compared with the previous period. It defaults to last month; name dates for another range.
- Agent: Google Ads Monthly Report (
google-ads-monthly) - Model tier: Haiku · cost cap per run: $1.00
- Needs: google_ads
- Delivered as: docx
Audit. "Run a Google Ads audit." A one-time critical look before an engagement starts: wasted spend, off-target traffic, tracking gaps, structure. Findings are framed as questions to confirm with the client. It covers the last 90 days.
- Agent: Google Ads Audit (
google-ads-audit) - Model tier: Haiku · cost cap per run: $2.00
- Needs: google_ads
- Delivered as: docx
Optimize. "Optimize their Google Ads." Nexus runs three agents in order and stops at the recommendations for you to review:
- The inspector reads the account and lists the facts and issues.
- Agent: Google Ads Inspector (
google-ads-inspector) - Model tier: Haiku · cost cap per run: $1.50
- Needs: google_ads
- The analyst explains why performance behaves as it does. Thin data is marked "watch".
- Agent: Google Ads Analyst (
google-ads-analyst) - Model tier: Sonnet · cost cap per run: $2.00
- Needs: google_ads_snapshot, google_ads
- The strategist writes ranked recommendations with risk and confidence, graded against the paid ads strategy.
- Agent: Google Ads Strategist (
google-ads-strategist) - Model tier: Sonnet · cost cap per run: $2.50
- Needs: google_ads_snapshot, google_ads
Landing pages. "Audit the Google Ads landing pages." Scores message match, landing-page experience, page speed and conversion. It separates fixes in Google Ads from page edits for the site team.
- Agent: Google Ads Landing-Page Audit (
google-ads-lp-audit) - Model tier: Sonnet · cost cap per run: $2.00
- Needs: web_crawl, pagespeed_insights · uses when connected: google_ads_snapshot, google_ads
Review and apply the changes
- "Show the pending ad recommendations." Grouped by risk.
- ✋ "Approve the low-risk ad recommendations." or name the ones you want. Nexus shows what it will approve, then asks to confirm. "Dismiss all the ad recommendations." clears the ones you don't want.
- "Build the change set from the recommendations." The exact changes. Nothing is touched.
- "QA the change set." Checks validation, guardrails, ad policy and the rollback plan.
- ✋ "Push the Google Ads changes." Shows the change plan and the rollback plan. Changes apply only after you say yes. Approved changes are applied through Nexus when live apply is turned on for your account; otherwise you apply them by hand from the plan.
Maintain
- "Schedule the Google Ads strategist monthly." Recommendations are saved every run, so a scheduled run gives you a list to approve. Run the inspector on the same schedule, first, so the strategist reads fresh data.
- "Which Google Ads levers are proven?" Every applied change, measured as helped, hurt or neutral.
- "Show the Google Ads dashboard." Account health, issues, pending recommendations and experiments. "Refresh the Google Ads dashboard." after a new inspector or strategist run.
Troubleshooting
- The dashboard is empty. No inspector run yet. Say "Optimize their Google Ads."
- A report can't read the account. Nexus quotes the error from Google. Check the customer ID first; it's the 10-digit number at the top of the Google Ads account.
- The push preview says Nexus's Google Ads access isn't approved for live changes. The message names where that access is set. Until it is, apply the changes by hand in Google Ads.
Prompts
- "Their Google Ads customer ID is 123-456-7890."
