Thought leadership on LinkedIn

Thought leadership is individual authors posting on their own LinkedIn, in their own voice. Each author has their own strategy (pillars, point of view, post types, format mix, cadence) and their own posts on the Thought Leadership dashboard. The company has no thought leadership strategy: its LinkedIn page is planned from the social strategy.

What it does

Thought leadership is individual authors posting on their own LinkedIn, in their own voice. Each author has their own strategy (pillars, point of view, post types, format mix, cadence) and their own posts on the Thought Leadership dashboard. The company has no thought leadership strategy: its LinkedIn page is planned from the social strategy.

Set it up

  1. Register the author and give them a voice (authors guide). When an author's voice profile is created, Nexus builds their strategy automatically.
  2. To build or rebuild it by hand: "Build the thought leadership strategy for Jane."
  3. "Show Jane's thought leadership strategy."
  4. Change one value without a rebuild: "Bump Jane's cadence to 3 posts a week in her thought leadership strategy."

Use it

Step by step is the default, with a review between steps:

  1. Plan: "Plan a month of LinkedIn posts for Jane." Each post gets a hook, theme and format, with no copy yet. Recent ideas from the author's idea inbox are used first.
  2. "Open the thought leadership dashboard." Review the plan; click a post to open it.
  3. Draft: "Draft Jane's planned posts." You can also draft by date range or the next few posts. Carousels get their slide copy too.
  4. Creatives: once the copy is approved, make the image, carousel or video for each post (same prompts as the social calendar guide).
  5. Publish to LinkedIn (LinkedIn publishing guide).

Want the copy straight away, without the planning review? "Draft a month of LinkedIn posts for Jane now."

Posts use the author's real photos when they've added some, used as they are.

Maintain

  • Keep the idea inbox going so posts come from the author's real work (authors guide).
  • Some posts came out with no copy, or with design notes in the caption? "Fix all the posts missing copy."

Troubleshooting

  • Planning says there's no thought leadership strategy. Build it for that author first.
  • The company page was refused a thought leadership strategy. That's by design: use the social strategy.
  • Copy sounds generic. The author has no voice profile yet (authors guide).
