Authors and voice

Authors are the people who byline articles and post on their own LinkedIn. One list serves blogs and Thought Leadership. An author with a voice profile gets copy in their own voice, built around their opinions and real stories; a name with no profile gets a generic role voice.

What it does

Authors are the people who byline articles and post on their own LinkedIn. One list serves blogs and Thought Leadership. An author with a voice profile gets copy in their own voice, built around their opinions and real stories; a name with no profile gets a generic role voice.

Set it up

  1. "Who are the authors?" Check before adding, so nobody is added twice.
  2. "Add Jane Smith, VP Operations, as an author."
  3. Give them a voice, one of three ways:
    • ✋ Share writing samples: "Add these writing samples for Jane: [links]."
    • ✋ Send the fill-in template: "Send me the author template for Jane." The author fills it in, then you share the doc the same way.
    • ✋ Ask your Nexus team to send their idea inbox link (below).

Use it

The idea inbox

Your Nexus team can give each author one permanent link. Each visit asks 3 to 5 questions (about upcoming posts, missing stories, gaps); they answer in text or voice notes, or paste links. Nexus turns every answer into ideas that drive their next posts.

Stories they share are proposed for their profile, and only an approved story is used in drafts.

Bylines on many pieces

"Rotate Jane, Mark and Ana as authors across October." One call; a name not yet registered is asked about first.

Troubleshooting

  • Copy sounds generic. The author has no voice profile. Add samples or send the template.
  • An author appears twice. Use one name; ask Nexus to reassign posts from the duplicate.

Prompts

  • "Who are the authors?"
  • "Add Jane Smith, VP Operations, as an author."
  • "Add these writing samples for Jane: [links]."
  • "Send me the author template for Jane."
  • "Rotate Jane, Mark and Ana as authors across October."
