# Joining a webinar (for attendees)

## What it does

This page is for people who registered for a webinar that runs on Nexus. It covers joining, fixing video problems, watching the replay, and stopping reminder emails. Share it with your attendees, or link it from your invite emails.

When you register, you get your own link into the event room. The room has the video, a live chat, questions that others can vote on, polls, and sometimes a button from the organizer. The same link plays the replay after the event.

## Use it

**Joining.**
- Open the personal link from your confirmation email. The page shows the start time in your own time zone.
- Before the start you see a countdown. The video starts when the host goes live; you don't need to refresh.
- The confirmation email has a calendar invite attached. Add it so the link is in your calendar.
- Your link is personal. Don't forward it: if someone else uses it, they join as you. Colleagues can register on the event page themselves.

**Lost your link?** Go to the event page and register again with the same email. If the organizer sends emails, you'll get your link again. You won't be registered twice.

**Questions, chat and polls.**
- Your name shows next to what you write.
- Questions go to the host. Vote on other people's questions to move them up the list.
- The host may switch the chat to questions only, or turn it off.
- The host can hide messages.
- If you post too fast, the room asks you to wait a moment.

**The replay.** When the recording is ready, you get an email and your personal link plays it. It can take an hour or two after the event. If you didn't register before, you can register on the event page afterwards to watch the replay.

**Stopping reminders.** Every reminder email has a "Stop reminders" link at the bottom. It asks you to confirm, then stops the reminders for that webinar. You'll still get a message if the webinar is moved or cancelled, and your link keeps working.

**Your details.** The organizer receives your registration, your answers, and how long you watched. Ticking the consent box lets them email you about more than this webinar. Names, emails and chat messages are cleared after a set period (24 months unless the organizer chose another); only anonymous totals stay.

## Troubleshooting

- **The video doesn't play.** Refresh the page, then try another browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, kept up to date). Company networks and VPNs sometimes block video streams: try your phone or another network. Allow the page to play sound, and unmute the player.
- **The video stops or buffers.** Close other tabs that stream video, or switch to a wired or stronger connection. The player lowers the quality by itself on a slow connection.
- **The video is a few seconds behind the chat.** That's normal for live streams. The host answers from the question list.
- **Nothing happens at the start time.** The host may be starting a few minutes late. Keep the page open; the video appears when the stream begins.
- **"This link isn't valid".** Use the newest link you were sent, or register again on the event page with the same email.
- **"No access".** The organizer has removed this link from the room. Contact the organizer if you think that's a mistake.
- **"Registration closed".** The webinar was cancelled, or it's too long ago to register.
- **No emails.** Check your spam folder. Some webinars send no emails at all; then your link is shown right after you register, so save it.
