# Pain-point mapping

## What it does

The pain-point mapping sets out what hurts for each of the client's buyers: one row per industry, ICP, persona and region, with the pain, what they need, the outcome they want, what they use today, and which of the client's offers answers it, plus messaging angles. A gap analysis then shows offers no pain calls for and pains no offer answers. It is delivered as a filterable dashboard and an Excel workbook in Drive.

## Set it up

It is built from the G2M and the brand identity, so the G2M has to be on file first (see the G2M guide).

1. **"Create the pain point mapping."** Nexus proposes the four axes (industries, ICPs, personas, regions) and the list of the client's offers. Nothing costly runs yet. If a mapping is already on file, Nexus shows it and asks whether to update it or rebuild it; a rebuild replaces the axes and resets the approval.
2. ✋ Check the axes before the rows are written. Add or drop one: **"Add the healthcare industry to the pain point axes."**
3. **"Generate the pain point rows for all industries."** writes the rows for every industry at once. One at a time: **"Generate the pain point rows for healthcare."**
4. **"Run the gap analysis on the pain point mapping."**

## Check and curate

- **"Open the pain point mapping dashboard."** Filter by industry, ICP, persona or region, or search.
- Fix one row: **"Rewrite row 4's messaging angle in the pain point mapping."** You can change the pain, the matched offer, the angles or the confidence.
- The client has its own pain document? **"Import the pains from this document: [link]."** Nexus matches each industry and persona to the existing axes (it never adds new ones; it lists what didn't match), shows a preview, and applies it when you confirm.
- ✋ When it's right: **"Approve the pain point mapping."** This records who approved it and refreshes the dashboard and the workbook.

## Use it

- **"Show the pain point mapping."** summarizes what's on file: axes, rows, approval, links.
- **"Export the pain point mapping to Excel."** rebuilds the workbook and the dashboard from the same rows.

## Troubleshooting

- **Nexus says there's no G2M.** Build or import the G2M first; the axes are read from it.
- **The workbook's cover and the dashboard don't match.** Export again: **"Export the pain point mapping to Excel."** Both are rebuilt from the same rows.
- **The workbook link won't open.** The export message says why; the dashboard still works.
